Can we!

This time around when the tsunami's hit us, we suddenly realised that we could help, by going into areas which are vastly devastated, would it be possible to get together a group of people working in all sorts of companies in India, who volunteer to go ahead and help in cases of emmergencies like these.

A system where people would just take off from work when such a need arises, work as a team and yet dont bank on solely monetary help but but being there to improve the speed with which help can reached to those in need.

I am still pondering.

Gap between Education and Learning

I am a Bachelor in Commerce, when i am completed my course i sure was one of the many who knew the accounting rules, but i dint figure out a life in the accounting cabins, looking thorugh figures to eek out a fab salary and secure life.

I ventured out in the industry to find out what matches my interest, i got good break and am doing a job most consider either too technical or creative for the mere BCOM i possess.

What petrifies me is some people dont look beyond educational qualifications, the fact is a lot of people get good careers in companies by mere educational qualification criteria.

I have a close friend, qualification 12 plus and he displays one of the most complete knowledge of delphi i have ever known, not only that he is highly respected by the client and team memebers, he's attitude is great and everything is worldclass. Just the education is considered twice?

On the contary i have seen a lot of professinals with absolutely no touch between what is expected of a educaitonal qualification they possess and what they really do, companies suffer these bolts after a really long time, but by then its difficult to understand or to change. The gap generally is immense, where i wonder if education should be re-strutured or atleast there exists a better way of rating professionals on their actual skill level by companies.

What could be a solution to this professional cetifications? proper educaiton/ or working in companies which are authorities in these fields.

The earthquake

Whenever an earthquake or a massive disaster happens, people get glued to the televisions and the newspapers to know what exactly happened. It is a complete wonder whether people do it of sheer curiosity like they display to roadside accidents or does it have any amount of empathy.

If such empathy exists what can be done on a scale that can prevent such large casulties. What can be done to keep people informed, and how losses to human life as well crucial assets of the economy saved.

How can we have a truly informed world in the most backward and indifferent regions of the country.
