Gap between Education and Learning

I am a Bachelor in Commerce, when i am completed my course i sure was one of the many who knew the accounting rules, but i dint figure out a life in the accounting cabins, looking thorugh figures to eek out a fab salary and secure life.

I ventured out in the industry to find out what matches my interest, i got good break and am doing a job most consider either too technical or creative for the mere BCOM i possess.

What petrifies me is some people dont look beyond educational qualifications, the fact is a lot of people get good careers in companies by mere educational qualification criteria.

I have a close friend, qualification 12 plus and he displays one of the most complete knowledge of delphi i have ever known, not only that he is highly respected by the client and team memebers, he's attitude is great and everything is worldclass. Just the education is considered twice?

On the contary i have seen a lot of professinals with absolutely no touch between what is expected of a educaitonal qualification they possess and what they really do, companies suffer these bolts after a really long time, but by then its difficult to understand or to change. The gap generally is immense, where i wonder if education should be re-strutured or atleast there exists a better way of rating professionals on their actual skill level by companies.

What could be a solution to this professional cetifications? proper educaiton/ or working in companies which are authorities in these fields.
